Celebrating the Lord’s Supper reminds us of the wonderful truth that there is no more sacrifice, no more offering needed to be make you and I acceptable to God!

But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, He sat down at the right hand of God, waiting from that time until his enemies should be made a footstool for his feet. For by a single offering He has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified. Hebrews 10:12-14
What does Jesus want us to do then, in order to receive forgiveness and the eternal life that He promises? We ask this question to children and get answers like:

“Go to church!”
“Read the Bible!”
“Be kind to others!”
“Obey my parents!”
“Pray every day!”
“Forgive other people!”

Why would we adults – who cannot obey Jesus’ teachings at all in our own strength – put such a burden on children? Why have them think they have to perform to earn His love and favor?

Those answers are all good ways to obey Jesus’ teachings. However, none of these answers meet His primary condition – Believe! Nothing can be added or taken away from salvation by grace through faith.

Over and over, the scriptures make it clear that the ONE requirement for salvation is to believe who Jesus is and what He has done for YOU – namely that Jesus is the perfect Son of God who willingly died for YOUR sin.

John 3:16
John 1:23
Acts 16:31
Ephesians 2:8, 9
John 8:14
Romans 10:9-10

Then the Lord Jesus can begin His work of changing you, me, and children into His image from the INSIDE OUT!
Let’s be sure to give children the pure gospel. Then we can leave the perfecting to God.

We can only give Him a sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving for all He has done.

Being confident of this very thing, that He, who began a good work in you, will perfect it unto the day of Christ Jesus. Philippians 1:6
