Don’t you love it when you’re sure you are praying according to God’s will? You can feel His pleasure!

Often we don’t know for certain if the Lord wants to heal, or protect, or make life easier. He may have a reason to allow suffering for a time to cause you and me to cry out to Him and draw near. Our necessity to pray during COVID-19 is a good example with at least that positive result.

One prayer that is always in line with God’s will is for a person to turn to Him, trusting in Jesus to save from sin. We read these passages and hear God making His invitation and desire so clear:

“The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” John 3:16

“But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 19:14

Then there is the very specific prayer Jesus asked of His followers:

“Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth laborers into his harvest.” Luke 10:2

Notice about this verse:

  1. This is a command by Jesus to his followers.
  2. This is the express will of God as given to us.
  3. The verb is present tense, meaning keep on doing it!

God’s promise is that if we pray according to His will, He will hear and answer! 1 John 5:14-15

All Child Evangelism Fellowship staff and volunteers have been praying Luke 10:2 prayer since the summer of 2018. We are beseeching God to send more Good News Club teachers. We are asking God to choose teens who are willing to give themselves away to reach children with the Gospel.

We are asking the Lord to touch business men and women to join our Executive Committee and share their expertise in finance, personnel management, grant writing, and event planning. There are more children to reach. The fields are ripe with harvest!

Every September, CEF of Peninsula holds a Good News Club training for both new and continuing GNC team members to get ready for fall clubs. Last year we predicted around 45 attendees, so we made 60 handouts thinking that we’d have a few left over. When the doors opened, people just kept showing up. Before training was over, we counted 57 folks! The last 3 handouts went to team members who could not attend.

When training was over, I said, “Where did all those people come from? Not that many RSVP’d. They were coming out of the woodwork!” Judy Mooers, our training director calmly answered, “Martha, we’ve been praying for God to send workers.” Oh yeah, how about that!

Will you join us in praying Jesus’ prayer request, asking God to send more workers? When you do pray, get ready! The Lord may sear your heart with an assignment in building His Kingdom.
