On Saturday, April 26th, CEF of Peninsula held our
first Go and Tell! Walkathon in Williamsburg at Jamestown HS
track and the adjacent Greensprings Interpretive Trail.

We prayed for the forecasted rain to hold off until after
12:30 pm and were blessed that the drops began just as we finished cleaning up. Thank you, Lord!

Counting registered walkers, pledgers, volunteers and Good News Club children with their families – there were over 100 participants in this fundraising effort. Thank you to all who gave their time, talents and resources to make it a success!

Our goals for the walk were:

  1. Raise funds to support the start-up of 10 new Good News Clubs in the 2025-2026 school year. We will be able to allocate over $4000 to that effort.
  2. Have the means to grant $100 scholarships to 12 Christian Youth in Action camp attendees. Exactly 12 teens have completed their registrations, and the Chapter will pay 1/5 of their tuition costs.
  3. Support a summer intern to serve as a team leader and mentor to young teens.
We are blessed to be able to hire John Steiner, a 4-year CYIA grad who will attend Johns Hopkins University in the fall, to serve in this role.
  4. Raise awareness of the opportunity available to God’s people – the local church – to take the Gospel of Jesus into local schools. Each contact our volunteers made with friends, family, and potential sponsors did just that!

We had a beautiful day to watch our GNC children walk around the 1 mile Jamestown High School track. They could then choose activities from making giant bubbles, navigating an obstacle course, making animal balloons, facepainting, playing corn hole, manning a giant parachute, and more!

Most adults chose to walk 2 or 3 miles on the wooded Greensprings Trail. That was a good way to spend a peaceful spring morning.  There were baby ducks on Beaver Pond!

Again, many thanks to all who made the Walkathon run smoothly and who gave to increase CEF of Peninsula’s impact on the 40,000+ children in our area.

Thanks be to God for His gracious provision for His mission to reach children for Jesus!
