“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”

Matthew 28:19

In this verse, the word ‘go’ is in the present tense, making Jesus’ command to the disciples an ongoing one. As we know, his command is to tell the gospel and make disciples.

A new ministry year has begun for our chapter’s Good News Clubs. We will have 20 throughout the Virginia Peninsula in 2025-2026. Many have already started. Two clubs are new: Faith Outreach Education Center in Hampton, which will meet from October through the end of March, and Mount Vernon Elementary School in Yorktown, which will begin in the spring.

The 2024-2025 Virginia Department of Education data shows that there are 82 elementary schools in our chapter’s area. These schools have approximately 42,000 students enrolled. As of now, we’re reaching about 20% of that number with our current clubs. CEFP seeks to begin 10 new GNCs each year.

We appreciate the staff and volunteers who make it possible for our region to have weekly gatherings to reach children with the gospel, and we need more help! Specifically, we need additional Bible teachers, as well as administrators, assistants, prayer coordinators, snack coordinators, and small group shepherds.

The following describes many of these duties: Administrators ensure that a club runs smoothly, and everything is in place for each session. Assistants help administrators by teaching parts of a club’s lesson, like the memory verse, games, or songs. Prayer coordinators collect prayer requests and pass them along. Snack coordinators are in charge of preparing snacks and take-home bags for the children. Small group shepherds supervise a group of children during snack time, activity time, and until dismissal. Who do you know who could fill a role?

We also seek for more pastors and churches, principals and schools to allow clubs to meet in their facilities. Please continue to pray with us that the Good News will be shared throughout the Peninsula.

“In Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.”
